| President's Message |
|
It is a privilege to write you today as ICAP's President for 2010. To my colleagues, you have bestowed upon me your trust and confidence. I am grateful. I am honored to serve and will do my utmost to effectively carry out the charge, representing our members across Illinois each and every day of my term. I can honestly say that I would not be here if it weren't for what I have learned through my memberships with ICAP and CCAI. These organizations have helped me stay on top of important developments in an ever changing profession. Perhaps the fact that ICAP was instrumental in the re-write of the new appraisal bill will provide some advantage when monitoring the legislative issues impacting our industries this upcoming year. This would not have been possible without a dedicated and hard-working board. And speaking of advantage, for the past twelve months, I have had the very good fortune of serving as vice-president under the guidance of Steve Thomas. Steve has worked tirelessly for the appraisers of Illinois and for this organization over the last eight years serving as a director, as an officer, and as president. For his unwavering dedication to our industry, I am grateful. I also have the good fortune of working in the coming year with a team of my colleagues who will dedicate their time, talent, and expertise as members of ICAP's Board of Directors. Together we will face complex and demanding issues in the year ahead. Our mission, nevertheless, remains the same - promote the appraisal profession and its image to the general public and to users of appraisal services. They too, are facing increasing complexity in an ever-evolving world of appraisal products, services, and management. I would like to offer an overview and my perspective on significant issues confronting appraisers. This year we want to introduce language regulating appraisal management companies and how they interact with our industry. We want to provide input to the Department of Professional Regulation in the re-write of the administrative rules. Finally, we want to continue to initiate discussion and analysis of issues affecting our industry and to monitor political action with the intent to influence legislation, regulation, and public opinion toward the appraisal profession. It is my honor to serve as ICAP's president. I look forward to working with all of you in the coming year and to an open and engaging dialog ensuring that all appraisers - including seniors, those working toward retirement, and those just starting out - are fairly represented. As we move forward together, I encourage ICAP members to build on the momentum of the past year. Our mission cannot be fulfilled without the ongoing dedication of the members of ICAP. You have volunteered your time and energy unselfishly to help promote and strengthen protection of the general public and users of appraisal services throughout the state of Illinois. For this, you have my deepest respect and continued admiration. Thank you. James R Blaydes President |
